As a Fulbright Scholar Artist-in-Residence in collaboration with Vienna’s Q21/MuseumsQuartier, Yuliya Lanina will be working on “Forget=Repeat”, a short hand-painted animated film, exploring inter-generational trauma of the Holocaust. Drawing inspiration from artwork made by Viennese-born artist Friedl Dicker-Brandeis and her young pupils in the Terezin concentration camp as well as from my own family’s history, “Forget=Repeat” addresses the importance of creative expression as a means of empowerment and resistance for oppressed people, exemplifying the strength of human spirit and the transcendent power of art. "Forget=Repea" will premiere at Tricky Women/Tricky Realities Festival in Vienna.
